You wake up one day and dreamed about the yummy cupcakes and cakes from the shows DC Cupcakes and Cake Boss. You then decide you want to start baking. But wait, you don’t have anything other than the oven in your kitchen. Now don’t panic and buy every single baking tool you see. And especially for people like me who always have to work with a budget, we can’t exactly go out and buy every cute cutter and pan we set our eyes on. But here’s a list of what you REALLY need to get started.
Let’s start with the most important tools. The measuring set. As they say, baking is a science, therefore precise measurements and temperatures are absolutely necessary to come up with the desired texture and taste. So without further ado, here are the measuring tools you will need.
1. Measuring cups. These are for the dry ingredients. These are what I have, Trudeau Measuring Cups. I’m not a big fan of stainless steel so I veer away from those as much as I can. However, since these are tools I will be using a lot, I can’t buy cheap plastic either. Good thing Trudeau has these in very durable and thick plastic. Very sturdy and well-made. Costs about P200+ (sorry, I saved the tag but didn’t notice that the price tag wasn’t there. Chee.) in Landmark Trinoma.
2. Measuring spoons. These are again, Trudeau. Love the different colors. P149 at Landmark Trinoma.
3. Measuring cup for wet ingredients. I would have loved a Pyrex measuring cup because it’s glass, but due to budget constraints, I just bought Ecko one which is made of plastic. At least when my little boy accidentally breaks it, it won’t break my heart. I don’t have a picture of mine, so I’ll post this one of Pyrex instead. Haha. Bought the Ecko measuring cup for about P200. Again, I apologize as I no longer have the price tag.
